The Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce estimates that over 100,000 weddings are performed in Las Vegas each year! Because of this, no city in the USA is better equipped to handle every detail of your upcoming nuptials. You are limited only by your budget and your imagination. For example, you can….
- Have “Elvis” perform the ceremony…
- Get married on the deck of the Starship “Enterprise”…
- Get married while flying in a helicopter or hot air balloon…
- Or… Well, you get the idea.
There are, however, some things you need to know before you jump on a plane…
- Blood tests are not required to get a marriage license.
- There is no waiting period between getting the license and having the ceremony.
- Both of the parties must be present at the Marriage License Bureau (Clark County Courthouse, 1st. Floor, 200 S. Third St. in the Downtown area) for a license to be issued.
- The license fee is $55.00(US), and must be paid in cash. For the marriage to be legal, it must be performed within one year of obtaining the license by a person licensed to perform weddings in Nevada.
- Court House hours are 8AM to midnight Monday thru Thursday, and continuous from 8AM Friday morning until midnight Sunday night.
- Persons 18 years and older do not need consent. Proof of age is required.
- Persons 16-17 must have a parent present at the time the license is issued, or produce a notarized affidavit.
- Persons under the age of 16 must have both a parent and an order from a Nevada court.
- One witness, other than the person performing the ceremony, must be present at the ceremony and sign the marriage certificate.
- If previously divorced, you must provide the Month, Day, Year, and City where the decree was issued, and it must be a matter of public record. You need not produce the actual divorce document.
Although the Marriage Bureau is not open 24 hours, the same cannot be said for the 34+ wedding chapels in the city. After all, you are truly in the “city that never sleeps”.
